Is this Kate wedding dress

It not as out there as it might sound.

Since Wills first slipped the massive sapphire engagement ring onto Kate finger last year, there been feverish speculation about which British designer will be called on to create the Princess-to-be dress for the big day.

Giving weight to the speculation is the UK's Sunday Times naming Burton in a front page story with the headline: McQueen designer to make royal wedding dress."

A Avondjurken representative for the fashion house denied the reports, saying: can confirm that Alexander McQueen are not making Kate Middleton wedding dress but did not rule out Burton personal involvement.

Fashion insiders were quick to praise Burton as a choice for Trouwjurken Middleton, with legendary Vogue editor-at-large Andre Leon Talley offering the Daily Mail his enthusiastic admiration for the style pairing.

she (Middleton) were dressed by Ms Burton, she'd make a beautiful bride. />

Showing her Autumn-Winter 2011 collection in Paris yesterday, Burton sent a series of long, white, fairytale designs down the runway, her show attracting an unsual amount of attention given the royal rumours.

Choosing Burton Korte Trouwjurk to design her dress would be a bold move for Middleton who has thus far shown a conservative, girly streak in the fashion stakes.

There are signs her style sense is maturing. The wheaten herringbone coat and fascinator made with vintage military regalia Middleton picked for her first royal visit last month and the classic trench she opted for in Northern Ireland yesterday suggest she might be establishing a sleeker, more confident look.

But it will be a 50 day wait until Middleton arrives in front of Westminster Abbey, when we'll know which designer will be responsible for the most talked about dress of the year.
